What a great theme for a Party for the month of December, January or February! This theme can be used for any type of party from birthday parties (i.e. Winter One-derland), baby showers or just Bunco night. This time of year, it is easy to find snowflakes, snowmen or penguins to help set your scene.
I wanted to share a quick decorating idea I just thought of if you are having your party at home. So your party is all about setting up the theme….so you can choose the dining room, family room, basement or any room that you want the party to center around. The item we need to set the theme is white tulle, better yet white tulle with silver sparkle if your party is in the evening. Tulle is very cheap and can be reused for another party later. Stand in the middle of your room you want to decorate and cut the tulle in long lengths that can be gathered in the middle with elastic then taped to the light fixture. Then tape the other ends of the tulle to the wall in a tent like fashion. Then you can take paper snowflakes that you cut out or brought and hang them at different lengths from the tulle with fishing wire.
Other ideas to set the theme:
- Cover the coach or other furniture in white sheets.
- Use white table covers on tables (toss with sparkle glitter or confetti).
- Use fake snow fabric or white felt around corners of room.
- Hang twinkling lights around rooms.
- Make snowmen out of balloons by taping three different sizes together and decorating the face and body with a black marker. Don’t forget to add snow around the bottom.
The best part about this theme is that you can be creative with any budget and that is what matters most! Below are some pictures I found of how people did the Winter Wonderland Theme.

What are we going to do for our kids birthday to show we still love them, but not go into debt? Streamers, Balloons, and a Cake what more do you need! I know you can only get away with this for ages 1-6, but why not get away with it if you can!
Streamers can be fun to use and colorful and very cheap. Choose two of your childs favorite colors or colors from a character they love. You have 81 feet of each color and can decorate any space. Use streamers in between doorways hanging down, drape the streamers from one side of the room or another, or cut strips and tape them from the ceiling. If you tape the two colors together and cut them the same length you can twist them together and create a two tone streamer for more drama. Just look around the room and think how you can be creative.
Balloons, Balloons, Balloons! Can you really have a party with out balloons? You can again pick two of your childs favorite colors to match your color theme to decorate your space. Balloons can be put at the entry way of the party room so everyone one knows where to head once they enter your home. You can have a balloon bouquet on the table to use as a center piece on the food table or gift table or let them float freely from the ceiling. Balloons can also make a great party favor for kids to take home so they can remember how much fun they had at your party!
So don't go into debt to create a great party your child will enjoy. Minimum and inexpensive party decorations can still create a great party atmosphere.
